Delivering
a sailboat to Costa Rica
Who,
What,
Where,
When,
Why... How?
People often ask me about my background,
my history, where I come from and how I came to be where I am, believing
what I believe and how I came to be a teacher of God's Word.
These are excellent questions.
Where it all began...
I was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1959.
Although most people know me by my nick-name "Harley,"
or the initials "H.L.," my birth name is Vincent (I prefer
Harley).
I grew up very inquisitive and pretty much
stuck my nose into every nook and cranny of God's creation. I spent
way too much time in the woods and at the seashore getting cuts
and scrapes and learning to love the plants and creatures native
to those wonderful places. I guess you could say that I've always
had a hunger to "break things down" and understand how
they work.
My mother, who left this world to be with
our heavenly Father back in 1991, was a brilliant and successful
woman who taught me to be relentless in the pursuit of truth.
My father, Reverand Russell White, is a
well-known Bapist minister and founder of the Bethel Baptist Church
in Orange, New Jersey. He is also the founder and Commander of Eagle
Flight Squadron, an organization which teaches urban yough to
fly aircraft for free, and guides them on to major aviation schools
and careers as pilots. Click here

Loving God
At eight years old, I was extremely active
in the Church as a choir soloist and I have always loved the Lord
from as far back as I can remember. After many twists and turns,
I finally and formally dedicated my life to the service of God in
February of 1975 at age 15.
since then, although life has been very
interesting, to say the least, I have saught to gain a deeper understanding
of God's Word. I suspected that God had called me into the teaching
ministry after He continually placed me in situations where I wound
up teaching His Word. Many of these situations I resisted, because
I understood what an awsome responsibility it is to teach God's
word to His people. My teaching style is based simply on wanting
to make God's truths easy to undersand for everyone. Those who are
familiar with my ministry know that I enjoy using word pictures
to get a point across and make it stick in the listener's mind.
I use this method in my own study and I know first-hand that it
helps make Biblical concepts more easily understood.
Loving God's Word
I have learned over the years that
the Bible is an intricate and delicate document with a rich cultural
heritage that is often overlooked, and because of this, I am dedicated
to looking deeper into the cultural, symbolic and philosophical
framework that undergirds the Bible and the precepts it contains.
I am currently very involved in the teaching
ministry. I am the co-host of an internet radio program called "Beyond
the End Times" with Ken Davies. I also host a daily live
discussion group on paltalk.com in the Christianity section titled:
"Christianity According to Jesus
Christ," and I teach a weekly Bible study from my home,
which is also simulcast on Paltalk in the chat room mentioned above.
I have had the great honor of being invited
to speak at conferences, debates and other engagements and I am
always open for future speaking opportunities if God should so choose
to bring them into my path
In summary, I am a man who is humbled by
the awsome power and sovereignty of our God. I believe in living
this life God has given us to the fullest with Him at the center
of it all. I believe what the Bible says. I make every attempt to
hold to Scripture alone with no outside influences. If I come across
a writer or lecturer that I have not heard before, I make sure I
harmonize what they teach with Scripture before I allow those views
to influence my studies or teaching.
Loving God's People
I often say "There is no greater evidence
of one's hatred for God, than when one lies to God's friends in
God's name." A teacher who is reckless with God's word is my
idea of a true hater of God and His people.
My goal for myself is to be of assistance
to God's people by holding myself to a very high standard when it
comes to the transmission of the concepts contained in God's Word,
while keeping an open mind and ear to listen to God teaching me
through the wisdom of others of His people. If you ever hear me
teach something that you think is not in keeping with God's word,
let me know. I will either show you from the Bible why it is the
only possible choice, or I will alter my view.
That's a promise.
